Samsung offers £2 million bounty to app developers

With a new open source development platform in Bada, Samsung is offering almost £2 million worth of incentives to the best app creators.

With a £200,000 first prize, developers with apps hitting the top 300 will get a free Samsung Wave to play with – for testing purposes, of course.

Below this, winners get between £30,000 and £70,000, with the odd 20 grand prize for apps that get an ‘honourable mention’ from Samsung themselves.

The competition is open to all and sundry, with three months left to sign up if you want to get yourself a Samsung Wave for gratis…

The Wave S8500 is a landmark handset for the Samsung for more reasons than one – not only is it the first handset to run the Samsung’s new proprietary Bada operating system, the Wave is also the first handset to come from the Korean manufacturer with new Super-AMOLED screen technology.

Users can comfortably view the 3.3” colourful screen even in bright sunlight conditions, with minimal glare and from acute angles and also at lower power consumption rates, making the Wave the perfect handset for the summer months where you’re more likely to stay out and about.

The Wave also boasts some top-line specs with a 1Ghz processor, 5 mega-pixel camera (with flash), high definition video recording capabilities, Wi-Fi support and a handy 3.5mm jack.

Samsung Wave deals are available now, on the Orange and Vodafone networks.
